Rome
The center of Rome is almost entirely a historical monument from the 8th century BC. e., the legacy of the great Roman Empire. This “eternal city”, whose air is saturated with the aromas of juicy oranges, olives and blooming roses, is capable of conquering any tourist with its grandeur. The location of Rome in the middle of the Apennine Peninsula was beneficial not only from a strategic point of view, but also gave the local residents an excellent climate and fertile land.
Still, if you are planning to visit Rome, it is worth knowing some nuances that will help make your vacation truly unforgettable.
The best time to visit Rome is April, May and September. There are many reasons for this. Firstly, at this time admission to most museums is free. In particular, at the end of April, a culture week is held, which allows you to visit all museums (except the Vatican) absolutely free. Secondly, this is the off-season. At this time there are much fewer tourists, therefore, the queues are noticeably shorter, hotels and air tickets are cheaper. In thirds, the so-called velvet season is observed. The air temperature is ideal for long walks both during the day and in the evening.
Of course, lovers of Italian food will feel at ease in Rome. How could it be otherwise, because a huge number of restaurants await tourists literally at every step. Here you will definitely be served the most delicate risotto with seafood or pasta with aromatic herbs. But if you want to dine in a fine restaurant and listen to tenors sing, then you should make a reservation 1-2 weeks in advance. It is in these restaurants that famous Italian chefs work their magic. They are usually not found in tourist areas. And remember, you won't be able to eat lunch at any time of the day. Good restaurants are open at lunchtime and open for dinner, strictly following the hours.
In Rome, of course, it is better to walk. After all, literally every building tries to surpass the neighboring one with its majesty. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes as there are cobblestones almost everywhere. And if you decide to go somewhere, then use the bus. The fare is 1.5 euros.
Every visiting tourist should definitely know that Rome stands on seven hills. Each of them contains some important Roman landmark. Try to get around them all. For this you will need at least 3 days. The most convenient way would be to take a ticket for a sightseeing bus, which will take you around all the main attractions. You can get off and take a closer look at any ancient monument that interests you. Visit the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, the Colosseum or just get off at the Trevi Fountain to take a walk, make a wish and throw a coin to return to beautiful Rome.
