I made a mistake on the ticket. How did I fix it?

Sometimes we buy tickets quickly and do not pay attention to details. Sometimes this leads to mistakes. What to do if the **name** or **surname** is written incorrectly, the **date of birth** is mixed up?
How to avoid such situations and how to fix it if something goes wrong? We will talk about this in this article.
Check the information
Many airlines, both domestic and foreign, require that the name and surname be written in English. This means that the information must be written as in the passport. No one should be denied a flight because of a few typos. For border guards of a foreign country, "**Madzhidov**" and "**Madzhidov**" are completely different surnames. If your **Name** and **Surname** are more complex, pay attention to the details.
If you want to fly with an ID on domestic flights or flights to Turkey, please enter your first and last name as they appear on your ID.
Travel anxiety and early ticket purchase may lead to some errors. We recommend checking your e-ticket. Double-check the information on the ticket sent to your email address.
Correcting errors
Sometimes **letter**, **name** or **last name sequence**, **passport number**, **date of birth** and even **gender** are incorrect.
Airlines make changes according to different rules. Some make changes for free, some for an additional fee. In any case, check the "**change tickets**" section on the airline's website. Depending on the fare, changes may or may not be possible. The lower the fare, the fewer benefits.
The airline may refuse to change. If the website does not have the necessary information, you can contact the carrier.
If the change requires payment, it can be done in three ways: **online**, **at the airline counter**, at the airport (at least an hour before departure).
Airlines and rules
The websites of Azerbaijan Airlines and Buta Airways have a note: "You can contact the call center to correct **mistakes in the first and last name**. **We cannot completely change the **first name** or **last name**, we can only correct **typos**."
**gender**, **passport number** and **expiration date** can be changed free of charge in the "booking management" section on the Aeroflot website.
The information can be changed online on the UTair website, but this is a paid service.
The Hungarian low-cost airline WizzAir offers the opportunity to change information online, but no later than 3 hours before departure. Corrections of up to two letters are free, and corrections of more than three letters cost €46. See here for more information.
Name change
You must indicate the reason for the name change on your ticket, such as marriage. Many airlines will do this for free if you provide a marriage certificate. To be sure, check with the airline you are flying with in advance.
Foreign airlines may require a **notarized** translation of the **marriage certificate** into English and copies of both **passports**.
